Built in 1774 by Reverend Alexander Dobbin, the Dobbin House is considered Gettysburg’s oldest historical building. Before and during the American Civil War this safe-haven assisted runaway slaves as it served as a Station along the Underground Railroad. During the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1-3, 1863, the Dobbin House was used by both the Union and Confederate Armies as a field hospital.
